Ephesians 5:14, "Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light."
I was just struck as I read that. What an incredible verse! Just as Christ commanded Lazarus to come forth in John 11, here too the command is made for a spiritually dead sinner to awake and rise from the dead. Truly only God can raise the dead unto salvation, both spiritually dead and physically.
Isaiah 43:11-13, "I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour. I have declared, and have saved, and I have showed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God. Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?" [bold mine] |
